Conor McGregor on defeating Jose Aldo: “I look forward to proving my point and what I’ve been saying over these years.”

The interim MMA champion, Conor McGregor, has always made it clear that he doesn’t have to prove anything to anybody, especially about how good he is in the sport. However, it looks like that won’t be the case this coming weekend.

In a recent UFC 194 press conference, McGregor made a couple of references that he will be proving something this coming weekend. So what does he actually mean by this? McGregor simply admitted that he wants to prove to everyone that he is the best pound-for-pound MMA fighter in the entire industry.

“I enjoy listening to the reasons why I am here. The excuses of previous. There are many, many times they look to discredit me, what I have achieved in my career, in this company. Right now, I feel I have the right opponent. The pound-for-pound number one. Undefeated 10 years. The only featherweight champion. What can they say now? What can they say after Jose falls? So I look forward to proving my point and what I’ve been saying over these years,” McGregor said.

McGregorEverything that is said about Jose Aldo is true. A lot of people tag him as the greatest pound-for-pound fighter, while for some, he is second to Jon Jones. McGregor says that if wins over Aldo in this upcoming bout held at MGM Grand, he will now have the chance to be on spot where Aldo is sitting in right now- at the top. He is also confident that this epic fight would be over so quick that fans won’t even have time to hold onto their seat.

“I feel within four minutes the shots will have landed. t’s on him after that. I feel anything after that four-minute mark of the first round will be a formality. It will be on him where he is mentally, where he is physically and how much he truly wants this. I see him crumbling towards the end of the first or not answering the bell for the second. But it will be wrapped up inside one,” the MMA interim champ said.

Critics will probably say that McGregor was given special treatment to get to where he is right now. “The Notorious” was able to win over Dustin Poirier last year in September, then won again just this January against Dennis Siver which led him to a title shot. McGregor was supposed to go against Aldo last July during UFC 189, but Aldo got injured during training so he had to be replaced by Chad Mendes. McGregor won over Mendes by a second-round knockout.

Despite what took place that night, some critics still claimed that Mendes was able to dominate the fight and that McGregor didn’t have what it takes to be deemed a truly elite fighter. McGregor will now have his chance to prove everyone wrong. The MMA champ has not lost in over 10 years, so this would be really big for McGregor if he will win the bout.

McGregor knows that Aldo would be the perfect opponent for him to prove all those who have doubted his skills.

“He is currently the pound-for-pound number one fighter on the roster. So, I have been telling people that I am the current pound-for-pound number one fighter on the planet. The pound-for-pound number one is on the line in in this fight. I am a man with a point to prove and I will go out and I will prove it,” McGregor said.
