Hostility between women’s mixed martial arts champion Ronda Rousey’s and Miesha Tate’s has not died down at all.
UFC President Dana White has recently revealed the top qualified fighter to go up against bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey- Miesha Tate has finally earned her chance to have a third fight with Rousey. However, as good as this sounds to Tate’s camp, Rousey’s coach says that if the fight would actually take place, the results are not looking too good for Tate. It could even be dangerous to her health.
In a recent interview, Rousey’s coach Edmond Tarverdyan stated that he thinks Tate deserves a chance to win the title shot again, seeing that Tate has recently been at the top of her game winning her fight for the fourth consecutive time last Saturday over Jessica Eye. Tarverdyan confidently said that their camp is ready in case the said fight takes place. “And we’re ready. I like that fight. I do like that fight, because she’s still talking crap a little bit and she thinks making it into the third round with Rousey, she thinks she can do better now and go for a decision or something like that. She’s mistaken and we’ll be ready for that fight,” he further added.
Of course, in order for Rousey to remain the champion and be qualified to face Miesha Tate after, Rousey needs to win over Correia first on this Saturday’s UFC 190 fight which will be held in Rio de Janeiro. Rousey’s coach is, of course, confident that “Rowdy” will do great in her fight with Correia. Tarverdyan further added that this time around, Rousey’s preparation to beat Tate will be very different as compared to their first two encounters with the MMA contender. Tarverdyan explained that the first time around, Rousey was almost forced out of the fight because she was sick. For the second fight, Rousey had less trainings than she was supposed to get because she had movie responsibilities back then.
Tarverdyan said that because of these events, Tate just got lucky and was not hurt much. But now that Rousey has a lot of time to prepare, things would be very different. “Ronda’s improvement is just going to be too much for her. This girl is going to get hurt in there. She’s not going to know where she is. This time, she’s not gonna know where she is, for sure,” he added.
With these strong words, however, the MMA coach was quick to note that Tate has indeed been doing a bit better compared before and she has earned her spot to fight Rousey for the third time. Although Tate has proven recently that she deserves that chance, Tarverdyan admitted that this decision is not really good for Tate’s health, and possibly, career.
Rousey’s coach admitted that he is actually excited for the fight because this time around, they are going to make sure that Miesha Tate will get really beaten bad and make her realize what she got herself into. “It’s not going to be good for her career. She’s gonna get a lot of damage and I’m gonna make sure it’s not healthy for her career,” he said.
