MMA lightweight fighter, Donald Cerrone, will now get another chance to win a fight after his loss against RDA this coming UFC Fight Night 83.
Cerrone, who has a current record of 28-7 MMA and 15-4 UFC will be going up against Alex Oliveira, who has a record of 13-3-1 MMA and 3-1 UFC and is on the 170-pound division. Both fighters will go head to head this coming February 21st in Pittsburgh at CONSOL Energy Center.
Cerrone admitted that he knew very little about his contender when he agreed to get inside the cage. Apparently, Oliveira took the place of Tim Means after a drug issue that was caught by the USADA before the bout. This issue, however, didn’t come as a surprise though.
“I was in Cabo San Lucas fishing. I don’t care. It didn’t matter who I fought. They already knew I’d say, ‘Yes.’ It’s not like I need to call and check with my coaching staff and make sure it was OK. I’d have been pissed if they had pulled me off the card. They know just get me a fight. It doesn’t matter who,” Cerrone revealed.
Whether this move in the MMA weight class would benefit Cerrone in the long run is yet to be witnessed. For now, Cerrone admitted that he is currently enjoying the new weight division where he is at right now. When asked if he prefers a certain weight class, Cerrone said that he is open to fight both at 155 pounds and 170 pounds.
“I’m 175 right now. I’m going to see ‘Deadpool’ as soon as we get off the phone, and I’m going to eat some popcorn smothered in butter, washed down with a Slurpee. I can’t wait. I had Budweiser last night and Fruit Roll-Ups this morning. How about that? That’s real life. That’s a true story,” Cerrone said.
So with this, it looks like Cerrone will not be dwelling too much on his loss against Rafael dos Anjos. The unfortunate MMA event didn’t even give him any realization. He revealed that there wasn’t any instance where he regretted any move or if there’s a technical mistake. Cerrone said the he simply lost the fight and it happens to each fighter. Now, here’s ready to get into his next fight and do his best.
He will not definitely pass up on the chance to get the belt next time around, but for now, Cerrone said that he wants to focus on what he does best inside the cage. Cerrone also revealed that he is hoping to land five fights this year, never mind the rankings. This would keep the cash flowing in continuously as well.
“I don’t even care; whatever they want to do. It makes no difference to me. I’m not going to say no. But I’m not going to get out there and say, ‘My next fight, title fight. It’s my dream.’ I don’t care. I don’t give a sh-t. Give me Conor McGregor. I’ll fight that p-ssy. Other than that, I don’t care. Tell that dude to slow his f-cking roll. You can’t be just calling out 170-pounders. So, whatever. Enough of him. Tune in. It’s going down in Steeltown,” Cerrone added.
