T.J. Dillashaw Shots Back at Urijah Faber, Says He is ‘Absolutely’ Confident of Beating Him

In a recent interview, Urijah Faber stated that he thinks there’s no point for Dillashaw to continue training with Team Alpha Male after he decided to transfer to another mixed martial arts team. And because of Dillashaw’s move, the UFC will definitely push the match up more. Both Ludwig and Dillashaw thinks this is just unfair, and with the recent statements that Faber made, it made the UFC champ more motivated to beat Faber in a fight.

Seeing these two great MMA fighters fight inside the octagon will definitely be one of the fights fans would have to look forward to. Before Dillashaw left Team Alpha Male, he and Faber were good friends and teammates. But when the UFC bantamweight champ decided to leave the team to train with Duane Ludwig in Colorado, the two fighters began to drift apart.

T.J. DillashawFaber said that he and Dillashaw can still remain friends, but the former Team Alpha Male member will not be allowed to come back and train in their gym anymore.

Ludwig and Dillashaw were on the MMA Hour last Monday and they both shared their thoughts about the current issue. They both agreed that banning Dillashaw to train at Team Alpha Male is not fair at all.

“It’s super unfortunate that Faber kicked him out. I don’t think that’s quite supportive or being a friend. I think we should all be working together as martial artists. And for anyone to close the door on somebody else just isn’t fair. I don’t think that’s ethical. It’s his decision, but I don’t think it’s best for T.J. and the guys,” Ludwig said.

Dillashaw also discussed his willingness to fight Faber inside the octagon. Although he isn’t really looking to fight his former teammate, recent events made him more willing to agree to a fight in case it will be offered to him.

“You know, I didn’t think I would be until Urijah started saying the stuff he did. He’s the one saying he’s more than willing to fight me. I felt we were a lot closer friends than that, so I put my heart and soul into this team and I thought we were a lot closer than that. I mean, he’s obviously looking for a big fight in his career, and I think I’m…I don’t want to have to do it, but you know, if I’ll be the last statement on his career, if that’s the way it’s got to be, but that’s not really the way I want to do it,” Dillashaw said.

The UFC bantamweight champ also said that he is confident he can absolutely beat Faber even though they both know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

Faber, who is a former MMA WEC champ, didn’t succeed in winning the UFC gold over the last few years. In fact, he attempted to get the gold three times, but sadly, he failed. With this, Dillashaw pointed out that a fight with his former mentor would definitely be one of the the final highlights of his record.

“I don’t want to have to fight Urijah. It’s not something I want to do. I think of it from his corner. I’m the champion, I have the belt,” Dillashaw added.
